Our vision is to help enhance the standard of living and quality of life of urban poor, rural Indonesians, women, and the nation's youth by training educators, government officials and members of the private sector. Programs and Professional ServicesBIF professionals offer consulting, workshops, extended courses, and research and development in a wide array of disciplines: Training Educators in Reading PedagogyThe Foundation utilizes the latest techniques in reading pedagogy, matching innovative methodologies with the interest and need of client educators. Environmental Health AssistanceBIF environmental scientists provide consulting and instruction in water quality, water pollution, solid waste management, and technology transfer. Our professionals also help develop strategies for coping with water-borne and insect-borne diseases. Social DevelopmentFoundation professionals construct programs for social development within public and private sectors, and non-governmental agencies. Modalities of the social development are based upon decentralization, partnership, and community participation. Management TrainingIn order to enhance managerial effectiveness and efficiency, BIF provides management training to government functionaries, non-profit representatives and community managers. Training methods include strategic and project planning, leadership, fundraising, conflict management and project evaluation. Dissemination of InformationBIF publishes books, articles, guidlines and reports; and in addition, the foundation offers assistance to other institutions in the publication of their documents. Such publications enhance communication and permit efficient transfer of technology. Research and DevelopmentBIF provides a well-trained staff and research capacity for conducting survey research on social and economic issues. The foundation also conducts participatory evaluation research to provide accurate and reliable information for program and project planning. BIF collaborates with the Charlevoix Institute of Medical Research, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA in the
legally permissible transfer of non-patented medical and public health technologies to Indonesia.
Transferred technologies contribute to BIF's mission of enhancing the welfare and quality of life of all Indonesians.

BIF ProfessionalsBIF professionals include a team of Indonesian and foreign participants: These experts have many years of experience in managing large public health, education and population projects for public, private sector, and non-governmental institutions in Indonesia. These projects have been funded by the Republic of Indonesia, the World Bank, the World Health Organization, the United States Agency for International Development and Pathfinder International. |
