Project 2:
Reading and Learning Center
in
Jatisari Village, Purwokerto, Central Java   

The Objectives

Develop a model of RLC in a poor village Jatisari, which will be able to provide people access to reading and learning to increase people knowledge, skills, and experience through reading, learning, and training various skills for increasing their productivity.

Activities

• Provide community facilities including building, location, library, and training equipment such as sewing machines, cooking facilities for improving community knowledge, and skills and experience in sewing and cooking.
  


• Develop gardening at the available land space to increase vegetable availability.
  


• Subscribe news paper for improving access to local, national, and international information
  


• Organize regular community meeting for discussing various issues of local development.
  


• Provide basic health instrument such as blood measurement, weigh, for measuring blood pressure.
  

The Results

Most of the participants recommended that the concept should be followed up further in the operational plan and implementation including develop a pilot project at the several villages and educational system.
